Lettuce Eat Changes Its Name to Wild Beet Salad Company Second Location
Opening Late Summer in East Memphis

Memphis, TN (June 21, 2016) - Fresh chopped salad and wrap restaurant Lettuce Eat is not only opening a new location in East Memphis soon, the popular Germantown eatery and catering business also has a new name - Wild Beet Salad Company.

Owner Kelcie Hamm made the decision to change the name of her thriving healthy lifestyle restaurant from Lettuce Eat to Wild Beet Salad Company after she found out the Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You has the rights to use the word lettuce as a verb.

While Hamm was disappointed in having to change the name of her now two year-old business, which opened in April 2014, she’s making the most of her restaurant’s new name, Wild Beet Salad Company.

She recently started using organic free-range chicken in her salads and wraps for the same price and she’s introducing a new beet salsa to her customers soon. When Wild Beet Salad Company’s new website is completed, customers will be able to order their lunches and dinners online.

Wild Beet Salad Company’s second location at 4715 Poplar Avenue in East Memphis at Knickerbocker Plaza opens late summer.

Memphis Fashion Week Makes a Big Impact on Economy
Fifth Year of Fashion Week Most Profitable Year Yet

Memphis, TN (April 18, 2016) - The fashion frenzy that swept through Memphis last week is proving to be more popular - and profitable than ever. Memphis Fashion Week capped off the 5th annual week long-event last Saturday, April 9th at Memphis College of Art with collections by participants in The Emerging Memphis Designer Project.

University of Memphis’ Zoe Vu walked away with a scholarship for Memphis College of Art Continuing Education classes after winning the Emerging Designer Singles Collection showcase. Designer Mary Ambrose was the winner of the Mini Collection showcase and she also received the scholarship to MCA.

All of the Emerging Designers, as well as the Featured designers who had their show Friday, April 8th at The Cadre Building, presented their creations with professional models, hair, and makeup. To make these shows happen, Memphis Fashion Week hired 47 models, 20 backstage crew members/stylists, and supported 21 local and national designers.

These 88 job hires coupled with runway show production fees meant Memphis Fashion Week pumped $20,000 in the Memphis community just last week.

This was paid for with the $65,000 raised through ticket sales and event sponsorships.

$36,000 goes directly to the Memphis Fashion Fund.
50 businesses in total participated in 2016’s Memphis Fashion Week.

Belly Acres Chef Rob Ray's Mushroom State of Mind Burger was one of 5 winners chosen from more than 200 restaurants across the country thanks to having loads of photos of the delicious burger on Instagram. Chef Rob will head to New York City in October to cook his better burger at the esteemed James Beard House.

But before we head to the Big Apple, we want to have some fun! Everyone is invited to come to Belly Acres on Overton Square next Tuesday, August 25th from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m for a video shoot parody of Jay Z and Alicia Key's Empire State of Mind.

Jamie Harmon and AMURICA will be there with the Photobooth and costumes, but we ask everyone come dressed in their outfits that represent their own funky Memphis style.

First Annual Healthy Memphis Food Festival Coming to Broad Avenue
Bringing Mid-Southerners Together to Enjoy Food & Fellowship

Memphis, TN (March 10, 2015) – For generations food has brought people together, and that is the mission of Healthy Memphis Food Festival, coming to Broad Avenue Arts District Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th.

Produced by event company Mocha Enterprises LLC, Healthy Memphis Food Festival will transform the Water Tower on Broad Avenue into a mini marketplace – filled with healthy food vendors, music, art, and wellness businesses. There will also be fitness classes and free blood pressure and cholesterol tests available.

Get fit with Belly Acres owner Ben McLean in the FitBen Challenge!

Belly Acres owner Ben McLean is getting ready to step it up for MIFA’s March for Meals campaign, a month-long effort to raise funds and awareness for MIFA’s Meals on Wheels program. During March, McLean is soliciting pledges to MIFA for every step he takes in his FitBen Challenge step-a-thon.

To kick off the challenge, Breakaway Running has given McLean a pair of shoes and a VivoFit pedometer to track his steps. Donations and pledges will be accepted starting March 1 at both Belly Acres and Lettuce Eat, as well as online.

Walkers, runners, and philanthropists are invited to join McLean in the FitBen Challenge. Participants may record their March steps to raise donations for Memphis area senior hunger. Register online using the form below.McLean is planning several events, including a St. Patrick’s Day walk from Belly Acres in midtown to Lettuce Eat in Germantown. There will also be a wrap-up party at Belly Acres on Tuesday, March 31st.

Nearly 3,700 Shelby County seniors are food insecure. With the help of up to 100 volunteers each weekday, MIFA provides over 1,200 hot, nutritious lunches for seniors in their homes and at congregate meal sites. MIFA’s Meals on Wheels program has been awarded the highest possible accreditation conferred by the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
